Heathrow T5 Fingerprinting Delayed
Airport operator BAA has delayed plans to introduce fingerprinting for passengers at Heathrow's new Terminal 5, on the eve of its public opening.
Domestic passengers and international passengers transferring onto domestic flights at Heathrow were to be fingerprinted from the start of business on Thursday.

MPs angry over expenses legal move
Commons Speaker Michael Martin has faced a backlash from MPs over the decision to challenge the disclosure of their expenses in the High Court.
Mr Martin moved to shut down debate about the issue in the House as MPs distanced themselves from the move and demanded to know why there had been no prior debate.

UK soldier killed in Iraq firefight
A British soldier has been shot and killed in Iraq.
 
The soldier died in a firefight in the early hours of Wednesday morning, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said.
It is understood the soldier was not killed in Basra, the main base of British operations. Sources said he died in Baghdad.

Sarkozy praises UK on state visit
President Nicolas Sarkozy has launched a cross-channel charm offensive amid the pomp and politics of a full state visit.
In an impassioned address to both houses of Parliament he heaped praise on Britain and called for the two countries to "write a new page in our common history".

Couple claim Gurrinder is their son
An Indian couple believe a nine-year-old boy abandoned in Britain is their kidnapped son.
Gurrinder Singh, who only speaks Punjabi, wandered into a health clinic in Hartington Road, Southall, west London, last Tuesday.
He claimed he was left at a bus stop by a white "uncle" with whom he had lived for two or three years.
