Oink founder: We're just like Google (telegraph.co.uk)

Speaking after his arrest, Alan Ellis, 24, claimed Oink was no more illegal than search engine sites such as Google which could also direct users to illegal music downloads. Mr Ellis declined to comment on whether users had made financial “donations” to the site. Mr Ellis was contracted to work as an IT consultant for Virgin Media’s contact centre in nearby Stockton-on-Tees, but was dismissed on the day of his arrest.

Russell Watson 'stable' following brain surgery (Times Online)

Opera singer Russell Watson is recovering well after emergency surgery to treat a bleeding brain tumour. The Salford-born tenor’s condition has now been downgraded from ‘critical’ to ‘stable’ following a three-hour operation at a Cheshire hospital yesterday. The 40-year-old father of two, who had a benign brain tumour removed last year, was rushed to Alexandra Hospital, Cheadle, on Wednesday after his vision deteriorated and he collapsed.

Blair reaches deal to write Downing Street memoirs (belfasttelegraph.co.uk)

Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair has struck a deal for the publication of his Downing Street memoirs.
Mr Blair's account of his 10 years as Prime Minister will be published by Random House.
The fee has not been disclosed, but he is expected to receive several million pounds for the book.

Boots raise Diana 'spy' theory (bbc.co.uk)

I never thought fancy footwear in a French tunnel would feature at the Diana inquest. The fact it has shows how determined this coroner is to shine an at times unforgiving light on some of the conspiracy theories surrounding the princess's death. The reference to what someone was wearing emerged during the testimony of Jacques Morel. It was a surreal moment. "So you don't want to talk about the man whose foot I stepped on?" asked this eyewitness via a video link in Paris. "Not really," replied the somewhat weary barrister. "It's very important," persisted Mr Morel. "Go on then," came the answer.

Spurs target Ramos quits Sevilla edition (cnn.com)

Ramos was infamously interviewed by Tottenham officials at the Alfonso XIII hotel in Sevilla back in August, undermining Jol's position after a sorry start to the season which has left a team tipped for a top four Champions League spot now languishing third bottom. Ramos had an unblemished record at Sevilla after consecutive UEFA Cup victories -- they beat Tottenham in the quarterfinals on the way to glory last season -- and a place in the Champions League.
