McCain criticizes CIA, explains immigration position
Republican presidential candidate John McCain criticized the decision to destroy CIA interrogation tapes yesterday, saying it confirms enemy suspicions the United States engages in illegal interrogation tactics.
With McCain "as President of the United States, we will never torture another person in the custody of the United States of America," the Arizona senator said.

Clinton Talks of Scars While Keeping Guard Up
In July 2000, Hillary Clinton stood on a stage at the University of Arkansas and struggled to keep her composure. Her voice was unusually soft that day, her words seemingly unfiltered.
“Diane, you were the awesomest,” Mrs. Clinton said, referring to Diane Blair, a political science professor whose eulogy she was giving. “You were the best person that one could have as a friend.”

Dow Jones in final days before Murdoch
By the end of this week, the world's best-known chronicle of capitalism, The Wall Street Journal, will be owned by another company — something many thought would never happen.
For more than a century, the Journal's parent company, Dow Jones & Co., was controlled by the Bancroft family, descendants of Clarence Barron, one of the earliest owners of the storied financial publishing company.

Gunman kills 2 in Co. missionary center
A gunman killed two people at a training center dormitory for young Christian missionaries early Sunday after being told he couldn't spend the night, and hours later four people were shot outside a church in Colorado Springs.
It was not immediately known whether the shootings, about 65 miles apart, were related. No arrests had been made in either attack by afternoon.

Ice storm zaps Missouri and Kansas
An ice storm grounded airline flights and knocked out power to thousands of customers in Missouri on Sunday.
Ice as much as a half-inch thick coated roads and tree limbs in sections of extreme southeast Kansas.
Missouri Gov. Matt Blunt declared a state of emergency and activated the National Guard to aid communities affected by the stormy weather that started Saturday and was expected to continue through midweek.
