Omagh bombing suspect acquitted
An electrician was acquitted on Thursday of murdering 29 people in Northern Ireland's deadliest single bombing, meaning no one has been convicted nearly a decade after the attack.
Relatives of victims of the 1998 Omagh bombing reacted with outrage and the judge sharply criticised the quality of forensic evidence and the police investigation.

Brown rating hits new low in poll
Gordon Brown has suffered a fresh blow with a poll suggesting his popularity has hit a new low.
Some 60% of the public are now "dissatisfied" with the Prime Minister's performance, compared to just 27% in July and 48% in October.
The YouGov poll for the Daily Telegraph gives the Tories a solid 12 point lead - on 43% to Labour's 31%.

Diana chauffeur "staggering like a clown"
Princess Diana's chauffeur was drunk and "staggering like a clown" just hours before the high-speed crash that killed her and her lover Dodi al-Fayed, the inquest into their deaths was told on Thursday.
Alain Willaumez, barman at the Ritz Hotel in Paris, said of chauffeur Henri Paul: "I saw him drunk."

Teachers suspended after tying student up
Two teachers have been suspended from a newly-opened school after mobile phone footage showed them tying up a student in a lesson.
The 16-year-old sixth-former was left writhing on the floor surrounded by other students while he was restrained with cable in the middle of an engineering class.

Guantanamo three allowed home
Three British residents set free from Guantanamo Bay only to be re-arrested on their return to the UK have finally been released for a reunion with their families.
Jamil el-Banna, 45, Omar Deghayes, 38, and Abdennour Samuer, 34, flew to Britain on Wednesday night after being released from the controversial US camp in Cuba.
