Biofuel flight 'a publicity stunt'
The world's first commercial aircraft to be powered partly by biofuel flew into controversy as environmental campaigners denounced the inaugural flight as a publicity stunt.
The Virgin Atlantic Boeing 747 flew from London Heathrow to Amsterdam, with one of the four main tanks carrying 80% standard jet fuel and a 20% mix of coconut and babassu oil.
Virgin Atlantic President Sir Richard Branson said the passenger-less test flight was a "historic" step towards using biofuels on commercial flights, with the aim of reducing carbon emissions.

Diana inquest probes world of espionage
Intelligence officers are facing unprecedented public scrutiny as they take the stand at the inquest into Princess Diana's death to deny claims that the security services killed her on the royal family's orders.
Their former boss has already given a fascinating glimpse into the murky world of espionage -- but this is not all about glamorous 007 figures. Theirs is a more mundane world of bureaucratic checks and balances.

Student Dies After Cake Eating Contest
Detectives are investigating whether a man choked to death while taking part in a competition with friends to see how many fairy cakes they could eat at once.
The 34-year-old, named as Adam Deeley, collapsed at the Monkey Cafe in Swansea during the early hours of Friday.
He was taken to hospital following the incident just after 2am but was pronounced dead a short time later.

Commons Speaker under increasing pressure
The spokesman for Commons Speaker Michael Martin has resigned after being misled by officials.
Mike Granatt said he resigned for "ethical reasons" after "unwittingly" misleading a journalist over Mr Martin's wife's expenses.
He said he was unable to continue in the post after he gave wrong information about Mary Martin's taxi journeys which were funded by the taxpayer.

Prayers said for Shannon Matthews
Prayers have been said for missing nine-year-old Shannon Matthews as police continue their searches into her wherabouts and renewed their appeal for information.
The congregation at St James Church in Heckmondwike, near to Shannon's home, began their Sunday service praying for her safe return.
Shannon - from Dewsbury Moor in West Yorkshire - did not return home from school after a swimming trip on Tuesday.
