Hunt for Afghan soldier who murdered UK troops
A rogue Afghan soldier is on the run after murdering three British troops and wounding another four. The killer launched his attack on soldiers from 1st Battalion The Royal Gurkha Rifles at a base in Helmand Province in southern Afghanistan early on Tuesday morning. He shot one dead in his sleeping quarters and killed the other two in the base's command centre using a shoulder-mounted rocket-propelled grenade launcher, sources said. The Ministry of Defence described it as a "suspected premeditated attack". The soldiers' families have been informed. A manhunt is under way after the murderer fled following the carnage at the joint patrol base near Helmand's provincial capital, Lashkar Gah, at about 2am local time.(itn)

World Cup Ref Webb Proud After 'Tough Game'
World Cup final referee Howard Webb reflected on a "tough game" after returning home from South Africa but was thrilled to have been involved in the tournament. The 39-year-old dished out 14 yellow cards - including two which led to the dismissal of Dutch defender John Heitinga, during Spain's 1-0 win. He has been heavily criticised, not least by the Dutch media. But people within the English game have been quick to leap to the defence of the Rotherham official. Webb told Sky Sports News: "I'm delighted to be home. It was an amazing experience out there." In a written statement, Webb added: "It is something every referee dreams of and to fulfil that dream was a remarkable feeling. "Whatever the match, you always hope that the officials won't need to be heavily involved. However, we had to raise our profile in order to keep control.(skynews)

Spy Chapman stripped of British citizenship
The Government has revoked the British passport of Russian spy Anna Chapman. Chapman, 28, who was married to a British man and lived in London for several years, was expelled from the US in the biggest spy swap since the Cold War. She was flown back to Moscow last week, but her American lawyer said she would like to return to Britain. But a Whitehall source said Chapman has been handed a letter revoking her citizenship and her passport is no longer valid. Officials revealed Home Secretary Theresa May was urgently considering the case last week. She has the power to deprive dual nationals of citizenship when to do so would be "conducive to the public good".(itn)
